So would I. Back then society respeccted policemen but the sixties changed all that.
Upon further research, it's a 1940 '440' model, only produced in the configuration shown that year. In 1941 they got 16" balloon tires, and pre-1939 they didn't have those fenders. They stopped making them in 1942.
Wow - nice work Dan - great info. I'd take an Indian from any one of those years - such a super cool bike !
