    Beautiful Norman Saunders painting for Topps Mars Attacks gum card set. Mr. Saunders was an incredible early influence on someone of my age and interests; his work was everywhere on stuff I liked as a kid. I believe he was paid the stately fee of $1/hour (minimum wage) for this and most of his other Gum Card work. I am guessing he painted 2-3 or more of these gems a day.

    I didn't know he was so prolific at painting. I have 3 or 4 (at least) other large-sized images of his work from the Mars Attacks gum card set. Only recently did I find out he also painted many of the Wacky Pack cards.

    Loved all that stuff as a kid... and still do !

    and Ugly Stickers, and Battle, and Nutty Initials, and Batman Cards, and a ton of Pulp and Men's adventure covers. He turned down illustrating Little Annie Fanny for Hefner!

    Wow, Ugly stickers and Nutty initials - lots of memories.

    Too bad, I would have liked to have seen a Little Annie Fanny done by Saunders.
